Training
Gliding training offers a clear pathway from your very first flight to becoming a confident pilot, with experienced instructors guiding you every step of the way. Young people are especially welcome—junior pilots can start early, build real aviation skills, and experience the thrill of flying long before they can drive.
Training
Gliding is a very sociable, challenging and fun sport. Training has many facets, meaning that there are opportunities for you to focus on the parts of the sport you enjoy the most.
These might include learning to fly a glider, Cross Country Soaring, Aerobatics, Instructing, Coaching, and Competition Flying. Our goal is to provide an enriching environment that nurtures learning and growth. From offering mentorship and training avenues to advice on technical aspects and opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals, we strive to enhance your gliding experience.
There are many progression pathways are designed to help you reach those goals, and assist you in staying engaged with the sport, on whatever level or area of interest appeals to you.
Whether you’ve never flown before, or have some other aviation background, or you want to improve your gliding skills there is training available.

Juniors
Gliding is incredibly supportive of young people achieving their aviation goals and ambitions. For many years, gliding has been considered arguably one of the best ways to start a career in aviation.
Nearly everyone knows a highly successful military or commercial pilot who started their journey with Gliding.
In gliding a ‘junior’ is any member 25 years of age or younger. Our juniors are specifically supported by the national, decentralised body for Junior gliding; the Australian Junior Gliding Club Inc.
More recently, the mental and technological challenge often associated with our sport has been linked to high compatibility in various fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Our gliding is fantastic place for young people to find advice and guidance in this field.
If you are a parent or a motivated young person looking for an activity, sport or hobby to both have fun and further yourself – look no further, you won’t be disappointed.
